Why I love God's Family

In the midst of all the political news centered around B. Obama and the fuzzy lines that are being divisivley drawn out of everything, it's refreshing to come into a sub-culture each Sunday that diminishes those lines and unites us as one...According to scripture, are we not destined to suffer this side of heaven in a world that cannot see past these lines that are being drawn out? Are we not headed down a slippery slope if we make much of the differences that God so beautifully used to create this tapestry called the human race? I'm convinced God purposefully created us radically different on the outside, that he might more fully radically change us on the inside. If he can unite us from the inside out, then I believe his glory can more fully be displayed to a broken, dying world.

"So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."
We must be a people of the future glory and be radically fixated on such a hope. Highlighting our likenesses and displaying our love for one another to the world is the way we "roll" in God's kingdom brothers.

Chuck,
Welcome to the blogosphere! Can't go wrong with Phil. 2.

As for Curry, I love the little fella. He gave one of the most humble answers to a sportscaster's question I think I've heard. When asked "what do you want to say to all those ACC coaches that passed you over now that you're doing so well in the tourney?" he basically shrugged and said, "I don't really have anything to say to those coaches or schools. I don't harbor any resentment. My coach does a great job preparing us to play, I'm happy to be on this team, etc." Just good, level-headed stuff for a young man.

Grace and peace,
